What will you learn at Sing and Sign?

You may not be familiar with baby signing, its a really fun, easy, and engaging way to communicate with your baby. Learning only a few signs with your child can make a dramatic difference to their communication frustration, increase bonding and have some fun along the way too. We will teach you over 100 signs to help you connect and communicate with your baby.  You will be overjoyed when your baby tells you something through signing - whether it is naming a favourite animal or asking for 'milk' and a bite to 'eat'!  You also get a chance to meet other parents from your area with babies of a similar age.  Some lifelong friends have been made at our classes!! Our classes are small, a maximum of ten babies and their parents to ensure everyone feels included and gets the support they need.

Your baby will love listening to the singing, playing the instruments and interacting with the other children - and the teacher!

My families tell me over and over again how much they enjoy our classes and how beneficial signing has been for them. And of course, everyone has fun!

Where do we teach? (also, look at our venues page)
Tuesday: The Exchange, Brick Row, Stroud, GL5 1DF

Tuesday: GL11 Community Hub, Fairmead, Cam GL11 5JS

Friday and Sadturday:  Cashes Green Community Centre, GL5 4NR

What happens if you miss an in-person class?
If you or your baby is ill, please stay home to keep other families and your teacher safe and well.  You can watch Class@Home and other online resources too.  It may be possible to make up a class in another venue on a different day if there is space.  Email (jennydavis@singandsign.co.uk) for more help on that.

    About Me

I'm Jenny, I'll be running classes in the Stroud area. I'm hoping to run classes in a few places across the Stroud Valleys area including Stroud, Cashes Green and beyond. I did Sing & Sign with my own children, Owen & Charlie, and they both absolutely loved the classes and what we learned helped so much with them being able to communicate pre-speech. I'm a complete advocate! My own experience of Sing & Sign is echoed by other parents that I've met and taught, that Sing & Sign did so much to allow us to communicate with our babies pre-speech and helped reduce frustrations.

I'm thrilled to see that you're interested in joining one of our courses, this is the beginning of our communication journey together.

    Communication Frustration

Are you or you child frustrated that they can't tell you what they want?

Do you wish you could effectively communicate with your infant?

Do you want to spend more time bonding with your child in a fun way?

Sing and Sign might be for you! We hold regular sessions, once a week over a ten week term, where we will sing, play and sign together to have fun, learn and communicate together.

    About Sing and Sign

Sing and Sign is a great way to connect with your baby in a fun and useful way. We use a unique simplified set of signs to teach you and your child a range of common phrases such as; "Don't", "Play!", or "Drink"

Around the age of nine months babies are beginning to develop the desire to communicate with the world more through pointing, simple vocalisation and whatever means they have to get your attention! It can be frustrating for them not being able to tell you what they want, this is where we come in!

By teaching you and your child simple signs that they learn through us singing and signing together, they will learn to sign to you some of the things they want; "Milk", "Tired", "Eat" and so on.

    Our Lessons

Our sessions are very relaxed, children are free to roam in the class. We typically have 11 sessions in one Sing and Sign term which follows the local academic year. In our lessons we all sit together in a warm and friendly space, with you, your child and the other members. We sing and sign through a number of songs, which we will all learn very quickly! At the end of our session, there is a chance for the children to play together with a range of toys, time for a quick socialise, and time for you to grab a quick cup of refreshment and a biscuit :)

    Exciting times for Nurseries!

Why Sing and Sign Courses Are a Great Investment for Nurseries

Sing and Sign courses offer nurseries a valuable tool to enhance early communication skills, reduce frustration, and support language development in young children. By incorporating simple signs alongside familiar songs, children can express their needs before they can speak clearly, leading to a calmer and more engaging learning environment. The courses also strengthen bonds between staff and children, boost confidence, and align with EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) learning goals. Investing in Sing and Sign not only benefits the children but also enhances the nursery’s reputation by demonstrating a commitment to high-quality early years education.

If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to contact me to discuss your options. I would be happy to provide further information and explore how Sing and Sign can benefit your nursery.
