• About Me

  Hi, my name is Andrea and I am the Franchise Owner and Teacher of Sing and Sign West Norfolk

  

  I have been running Sing and Sign West Norfolk for over 8 yrs now. It has given me great pleasure to have been able to launch these fun and educational Baby Signing classes in the area! 

  I bring with me a wealth of knowledge and experience from working with children and their families for the past 30 years, as well as having a natural flare and passion for music, movement and singing. I have worked in a variety of childcare settings over the years and before joining the Sing and Sign team I worked as an Early Years Autism Specialist for 14 years so was already familiar with the benefits of using signing with children to encourage communication.

  It was 10 years ago when I first fell in love with the Sing and Sign programme through taking my own son to classes where we lived in Hertfordshire at the time. I had tried out quite a few classes in my local area, but there was something special about this one; the whole structure of the session which included lots of great songs, props, musical instruments and a chance to meet other families whilst my child had fun. The songs which relate to day to day events and routines, and signs were very easy to learn. Soon my little boy began to communicate with me. I will never forget the joy I felt the first time he signed 'more' at 7 months old whilst I was blowing bubbles for him -a clear favourite! After lots of practice, very soon more signs started to develop such as 'all gone', 'drink', 'milk', 'eat', 'plane'. It was so lovely being able to give my baby the chance to communicate with me at such an early age before he was even able to talk. Therefore, reducing his frustration at not being understood. Obviously through using the signs and words together, he has now developed a large vocabulary and doesn't stop talking!! :-D

  Classes are very relaxed and good fun. We keep class sizes small (maximum 12) so you and your baby can enjoy the social aspect.

  
  

  Classes run for approximately an hour, I teach all the signs through easy to learn action songs. Don’t worry if you can’t sing . . . . you don’t have to!

  
  

  As a general rule, Stage 1 classes are great for babies aged from 6 months upwards. Stage 2 classes are most appropriate for babies & toddlers aged 14 months+

  
  

  We know babies don’t like to stay still so we don’t expect them to! They are welcome to roam around the room if they want to –they will still be learning (you’d be surprised how much they can pick up whilst wandering!) When Jessie cat, instruments or the props bag appear they soon come back!

  
  

  How much will it cost?

  £70 for 10 weeks

  £76 for 11 weeks (Autumn Term includes a Christmas Edition on the final week)

  PLUS, access to our Award winning Sing and Sign @Home course which will run alongside the 'live' classes, with a new lesson for you and your family to view as many times as you like throughout the week, meaning you can carry on the Sing and Sign fun at Home!
