About Me
Welcome to Sing and Sign Horsham & Crawley!
My name is Gemma McDonald and I'm delighted to be your local Sing & Sign teacher for the Horsham and Crawley area!
I have 14 years teaching experience and my passion and joy has always been teaching very young children. Now, I'm privileged to do this alongside YOU, our little ones' most favourite people in the world!
I gained a degree in English Language and Linguistics and through this I have a deep appreciation for how children acquire language and how the quality and exposure to language rich environments can have a profound impact on a child's intellectual and cognitive development. Sing & Sign truly champions early language development and I am proud to deliver their award-winning programme!
I attended Sing & Sign classes with my little boy from 8 weeks old through to just over 24 months. I was so saddened when our classes came to an end. We found the sessions thoroughly enjoyable and fun but they also had a huge impact on my son's receptive and expressive communication skills.
I found that the activities and songs could be easily transferred to my daily baby routines and Sing & Sign always gave me new ideas to use at home with my little one.
As a new mum, Sing & Sign also offered me the opportunity to meet other parents and to make friends. It's so important to connect with others and my venues will always try to encourage this. I strive to provide venues that have cafes or that are centrally located so that you always have the best opportunity to socialise and gain even more from the Sing & Sign experience.
My son and I had so much fun on our Sing & Sign journey together and I cannot wait to be a part of your journey.

Which class should I attend?
All our classes have weekly themes or signs of the week, instruments, surprise bags and a programme relevant to your baby's age and development.
Babes, 0-6 months: A gentle sensory and music class with a strong emphasis on early bonding and communication through daily baby routines, consistency and repetition, eye contact, gesture, sounds & babble, shared looking and anticipation games.
Stage 1, 6-14 months: Sing & Sign's core curriculum and award-winning class. Content carries on with baby routines such as nappy time and bath time. Enjoy singing and signing about meal times, going out, people, animals, emotions, asking for help and games like peekaboo.
Stage 2, 14 -24 months: You can continue the fun with your toddler as speech develops and this later stage includes themes such as colours, choices, phonics (letter sounds), friendship, manners and potty time!
How much does it cost?
The cost for a 10 week term course of Sing and Sign is £90. For Stage 1 & 2 this also includes the wonderful Sing and Sign online membership, which allows you to access Sing and Sign resources including videos, fun games and sign content to support you and your baby's learning at home.

How many people can attend Sing and Sign classes?
Class sizes are limited to 12 babies with their parent or carer. Twins / triplets are welcome and only pay for one place.
I have an older child, can they come too?
Yes, older siblings are always welcome and they enjoy the singing with their sibling. Just let me know when booking a place. I will not charge extra.
I have an extra adult/s I'd like to come, can they attend?
An occasional extra parent, family member or even both grandparents are very very welcome but please contact me in advance so that I can ensure that there is room to accommodate them and if needed, I can provide chairs! It's great for visiting family to be a part of your normal weekly routine or to have both parents attend when they can!
Restrictions
If you are bringing a friend’s child, you will need to pay for two places. Childminders also need to pay for each child, unless they are siblings.

Venues
Classes in Crawley and Horsham
I strive to provide venues that encourage parents, guardians and their babies to meet and socialise with others if they wish. My experience in achieving this is by providing venues that are centrally located with excellent facilities and nearby amenities.CRAWLEY LIBRARY
Use the lift to come up to the Bill Buck room. There will be room for prams if you are walking to the venue. There is plenty of parking if you are coming by car but please bring change for the parking machine.Enjoy the Library venue's offerings! Library, cafe and right next to the County Mall, Memorial Park and Memorial Playground.
It is a well known fact that reading from a young age has a massive impact on children's language development so of course enjoy some library time with your little ones. Grab a coffee or go to the park with new found friends!
THE PAVILLION IN THE PARK (HORSHAM)
The Pavilion in the Park (Dance Studio)
Use the lift just to the left of reception to come up to the veranda. Turn right out of the lift and you’ll see the Dance Studio straight ahead. There is a buggy park at the main entrance if you are walking and there is ample parking if you are coming by car.
Enjoy the leisure centre's offerings! It has a cafe onsite and is a stone's throw away from Horsham town centre. The main attraction is of course the beautiful park in which it is located. Take a stroll, feed the ducks or visit the fantastic playground.

Nurseries
Sing and Sign Horsham and Crawley Affiliated Nurseries
Sing and Sign has an excellent Nursery Affiliation Programme which trains staff to use Signs and Songs specific to their children’s needs.
Training will take place at the Nursery’s premises for a maximum of 12 staff.
The nursery will be provided with a bespoke Individual Action Plan to address their specific needs and requirements.
Following training, the nursery will receive a Certificate of Sing and Sign Affiliation together with ongoing access to our signing resources and a complimentary package of products.
