SOME PARENTS COMMENTS!
I was never really sure about doing a babysigning course because I worried that if my twins could communicate through signing, they may be slower in developing speech. But, the girls always responded well to music from a young age so I decided to give sing and sign a try - if I'm honest, not least because it is actually the only class I've come across that doesn't charge double for twins! We started when the girls were 8 months old. My girls are now 20 months and we've just finished our third term at sing and sign - the girls and I have absolutely loved the classes, they are great value, highly enjoyable (we always sing the bathtime song when I'm bathing the girls) and, importantly, the girls not only learnt to communicate with me very early on by using simple signs (like 'more' and 'milk'), they also seem to have developed their speech very well and at 20 months, they both use some signing and a lot of speech to let us know what they want to do. I loved the classes because I like singing with the girls but also because I really liked the way they were very inclusive: all babies and carers have stickers with their own name on. It's a simple thing, but by having name badges, you feel a lot more comfortable chatting with other Mums so it's really a very welcoming atmosphere. The teacher we had was amazing: really friendly and relaxed, but structured and organised. The venue (it's a kids thing) was also excellent, letting the class access their amazing play area for free either before or after classes whenever possible. I always recommend the course to friends and would encourage anyone to do sing and sign - great fun and really educational. - Liz C

We have been going to Sing and Sign since my daughter was 8 months old and we still love it now she is nearly 18 months. She initially just loved the singing and playing with the instruments and other babies in class. Then she started picking up the signs (at about 9 or 10 months) and really started to communicate. The signs have helped me understand what she wants (drink, more, eat, up etc), and also as she learnt more signs she started signing and talking about things she does and sees (swings, planes, ducks, dogs etc). She loves watching the DVD and is completely in love with Jessie the cat. She is talking a lot now, and using lots of words and signs together and separately. Sing and Sign has been really fun and very useful. - Carina V

Sing and Sign classes were the first classes that I braved with my young twins. We have all thoroughly enjoyed attending Vicki's group; it has been the highlight of our week. Their faces light up with delight at the easily recognisable songs, which have been sung to death in our house. They each have their own favourite song, routine and signs. It is wonderful to see them develop their communication skills. Highly recommended - Jane S

Just wanted to say what fun Sing & Sign classes are, both for babies and parents alike. This is our second term and it’s a wonderful way of communicating with your little one before they can speak. I have learned so many signs and have found it brilliant and often find myself singing the songs and signing to my little girl. I have recommended the classes to all my friends as it gives your baby a head start with their communication and development skills - Amy T

Although Alexander (10 months) has yet to sign, when I sign to him he pays me more attention and I sense we are communicating. The DVD has allowed my husband to Sing and Sign too! - Susan B

Why we love Sign and Sign...
It's a great group activity to share with your friends and their babies and a wonderful way to combine a fun morning out with learning new ways to communicate with your baby. The songs we learn at Sing and Sign, we enjoy all week long as we change nappies, have a bath and go to bed. Highly recommended for any baby who enjoys learning through play - Sarah Y
