Meet the Team:
Cheryl studied Performing arts at college, enjoying movement, drama and gaining grades for singing. When she had her son, James in 2015 she attended Sing and Sign Babes classes and soon gained a love and enthusiasm for signing. Cheryl took over the Franchise in November 2018 and has been working alongside Lauren and Kelly who are amazing teachers. She loves working with the babies and is very excited to be adding even more venues next Term.
Mum to Amelia (3), and twin boys Ollie and Alex (2), Lauren discovered Sing and Sign as a new Mum attending a class with Amelia, and the whole family have had the signing bug ever since. Lauren is passionate about baby signing having seen the benefits first hand, and Jessie Cat is now a well established member of the family. When S&S Colchester were looking to extend the team Lauren saw an opportunity to pursue her passion and it all just seemed meant to be.
Mum to older daughter Jessica and twins Georgia and Millie. Kelly started sing and sign when the twins were babies, as Georgia had a speech delay. “Sing and Sign gave Georgia the ability to communicate with us without becoming frustrated and enabled her to develop and start speaking in her own time”. When the twins started school Kelly decided to follow her passion and become a sing and sign teacher. Jessie cat is a very loved member of their family.
Hannah has recently started working as a Sing and Sign teacher after taking her daughter Emmie to classes. She is also Mum to Adam who is 10 and spends most of her weekends as a football mum cheering on her sons team. Before having Emmie Hannah worked as a supply teacher in a middle school and as an outreach worker for a local charity. She also spent over 4 years in India and Kenya caring for street children. Hannah has seen the incredible benefits of signing with Emmie who is non verbal due to hearing loss and a cleft palate so is very excited about this opportunity to encourage other mums and babies to sign.

Winter Term 2018
Booking is now open for Winter Term
Sing and Sign is a programme that grows week-by-week with you and your child and is divided into 3 Stages:
Which class should I choose?
Sing and Sign BABES - This is a multi-sensory music programme for babies from birth to 7 months. Our aim is to help you build the framework for good communication with your baby. Whilst we follow a 10 week curriculum, the course is bookable in 5 week blocks and is designed as a precursor to Stage 1 Sing and Sign
(We only ask for 5 weeks commitment at a time with the Babes course as we understand young babies' routines have to be quite flexible!)
Stage 1 - It is recommended that you and your baby attend two terms of Stage 1 classes in order to consolidate and learn a total of 120 signs. Babies learn through repetition so attending two terms helps you to establish good signing habits as well as letting you learn the lyrics of the songs written especially for theSing and Sign programme. You will be given a 12 page guide to signing in your first class for Stage 1 and the choice to book a second term is entirely yours.
Stage 2 –If you’ve enjoyed stage 1 and want to continue, you’ll be ready to join More Sing and Sign – Stage 2, offering a more mobile, physical class with another two curriculums of additional songs, signs and actions for older babies and toddlers, backed up by another 10 page guide to signing. This stage includes teaching colours, letters of the alphabet, opposites, good manners and much more besides.
All classes last roughly 30-45 minutes, are very relaxed and great fun! Feel free to do whatever you feel comfortable with and don’t feel you have to keep your baby on your lap – let them roam if they want to. If the room is not carpeted, we do have individual mats/rugs but please feel free to bring your own cushion to sit on if you’d prefer. Nappy changing and breast or bottle feeding during the session is fine, or you can do it away from the group if you’d prefer. Bring any drinks your baby might need.
Due to limited numbers per class you will need to book and pay prior to the term starting (early booking is recommended).
Some Mum’s like to familiarise themselves and their babies with some of the music and signs before term starts. Details of how to purchase our Jessie Cat Club online Membership, DVD and/or CD can be found on my booking form.
How much will the class cost me?
Our Babes Course is 10 weeks but can be paid and booked half termly for £30 for 5 weeks or £50 for 10 weeks if paid in advance, This includes membership to our online Jessie Cat Club so that you can access our resources at home.
The Stage 1 and 2 Courses are £65 for 10 weeks, or £75 if you wish to add the online Jessie Cat Club (normally £25).
Due to limited numbers per class we cannot offer a "pay as you go" option. You will need to book and pay your term fee prior to term starting but your first class is a trial class so this will be refunded if you decide not to sign up. Payment can be made by BACS or Credit/Debit Card at the time of booking.
In classes where we have space we offer a TRIAL CLASS, so come along and see why we're Essex Mums winner 2017!

Nursery Affiliation Programme
Does your child attend a nursery?
Sing and Sign now has an excellent Nursery Affiliation Programme which will train staff on their own premises at a time to suit all.
We will teach staff a selection of signs, tailor made to the nursery's individual requirements and design an Individual Action Plan to inspire staff and make signing fun and easy to incorporate.
Following training, the nursery will receive a Certificate of Sing and Sign Affiliation together with ongoing access to our signing resources and a complimenatary package of products.
If your baby attends nursery or you know of a childcare facility that would be interested in receiving further information, please do pass our details on, or contact us at our number/email above.
