Hello, welcome to the homepage for
South East Essex!
I'm Julia and I'm one of the Sing and Sign teachers in this area. I have been teaching Sing and Sign since January 2004 and I am loving every minute of it.
I attended Sing and Sign classes with my daughter, Cliona when she was nearly 10 months old. Cliona was particularly expressive with gestures learned from her time at Sing and Sign. When she was twelve months old, she was able to ask for milk, food, a drink, her toy duck and a book. Friends and parents of other babies marvelled at the ease to which Cliona and the rest of the family were able to communicate. Cliona never had frustrated tantrums, because we were always able to understand what she wanted. We now have a confident and happy little girl, with a vocabulary well advanced of her years.
I also have a little boy - Hayden. Before Hayden was 1 he could already sign for more, finished and up. At 17 months old he had a signing vocabulary of over 45 words. Even before Hayden could sign he was recognising the signs and responding to them. For instance when I did the change nappy sign to him he went and sat on his change mat - a much nicer experience than trying to change his nappy whilst he was crying and wriggling to get away, which is what happened if I didn't do the change nappy sign. He also recognised the sign for No (and tended to stop what he is doing when no was signed to him). Hayden is now a confident and chatty 5 year old.
The benefits of baby signing are many.
I hold classes in Benfleet, Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff-on-Sea, Shoeburyness, Rayleigh and Thorpe Bay. If you would like to join me for classes next term please fill in the form below.
I look forward to hearing from you!
**** New class for September 2010. ****
We will now be holding classes at St Georges Church, Crowstone Road, Westcliff-on-Sea. St Georges Primary School, Eagle way Shoebury. and Rayleigh Methodist Church, Rayleigh
To get the most out of a Sing and Sign class, we suggest your baby should be 7 months or older when they start, however it's never too young to learn about the benefits of baby signing and how to get started, so our introductory sessions are open to babies from birth. If you would like to be sent information on when these free taster sessions are held, please get in touch.
Twins count as a single booking and only pay one fee.
I am now taking bookings for the Autumn Term 2010, please see below for details.
Nursery workshops
I am now running special nursery workshops to train staff in baby signing. If you are a nursery and wish to know more about these workshops please contact me through the enquiry form below. If you are looking for a local nursery that uses baby signing I will be listing the nurseries below.
