Now taking bookings for Autumn Term starting week commencing

Monday 20th September 2010.

Hello my name is Nikki and I started signing with my son Archie when he was five months old with the Sing and Sign dvd. I found out about baby signing through my local health visitor.

We started classes together when he was 7 months old and he loved them! And to our delight he started signing a couple of weeks before he was 11 months old.  He then went on to sign more and more and eventually dropped the signs as he learnt to talk. However when I was unable to understand what he was saying it was great because he would sign the word for me. He is now a very chatty and outgoing five year old, with a huge vocabulary and very bright.

I had an even better expereince signing second time round with my daughter Maisie.  I started signing with her when she was just four weeks old. Only a couple of signs, just 'Milk' and 'up' and to my delight she started signing 'milk' and when I signed 'up' to her, she raises her arms up in the air with a huge smile on her face, not bad for just seven months old!.  At the height of her signing we counted over 60 signs! It was great to have an older brother too that knew the signs and I am certain that was why she did so many. She also started talking very early too and signing came to the rescue again when we were unsure of what she was trying to say. She has just turned two years old and is continuing well with her speach, she still does her favorite signs, just to emphasis a word she is also very much like her brother very confident and bright.

As a mum I thoroughly enjoyed the classes first time round with Archie, and even more so second time round with Maisie. They are relaxed and our babies are free to crawl/walk around and explore whilst us mums learnt all the signs. It was a joy to see Archie’s face light up with delight when we all started singing and especially when Jessie the cat appeared and to see Maisie react the same was just amazing. Teaching my own classes the past five years has been great too, watching so many babies I have taught gain confidence and start signing makes it all worth while.

Sing and Sign classes are such good fun the songs are easy to learn and you will be amazed at what your baby can tell you. A signing baby in action is something special to see! Baby signing is so rewarding for both you and your baby.

So if you want to learn baby signing the best way, why not sign up for classes now. You wont regret it and you will reap the benefits.

Please contact me to put your name on the waiting list or to book your place on the next course.I look forward to hearing from you.

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT CLASS

• Classes are very relaxed and good fun! We keep class sizes small (around 12 per class) so you and your baby can enjoy the social aspect of class.

• Classes run for an hour - we sing and sign for approximately 30-40 mins.

• As a general rule, Stage 1 classes are great for babies aged from 6/7mths upwards. Stage 2 classes are most appropriate for babies who have attended at least one term of stage 1, and who will be around 14mths+ at the start of term(exceptions apply, please contact me if you are unsure!).

• We know babies don't like to stay still so we don't expect them to! They are welcome to roam around the room if they want to - they will still be learning (you'd be surprised how much they can pick up whilst wandering!) When Jessie Cat, instruments or the prop bag appear they soon come back!

• At the end of our 'sing and sign' time, time for mums to chat and the toys come out for the babies! Your teacher is available to answer any questions that may not have already been answered in class.

• We learn the signs through singing. Don't worry if you can't sing you don't have to!

• At the end of your first week you will get your baby's personalised folder to keep the weekly handouts that recaps what we have done in class.

• My terms are 10 weeks in length and the cost per term is £55.00. Due to limited numbers per class you will need to book and pay prior to term starting. (Early booking is advisable) I take payment via cash or cheque. contact me for a booking form
